You do realise its not even on that level yet. Oh and a pandemic is an infectious disease that spreads through the population across a large region.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a pandemic can start when three conditions have been met:

    * Emergence of a disease new to a population.
    * Agents infect humans, causing serious illness.
    * Agents spread easily and sustainably among humans.

A disease or condition is not a pandemic merely because it is widespread or kills many people; it must also be infectious. For instance, cancer is responsible for many deaths but is not considered a pandemic, because the disease is not infectious or contagious.

I like how Voiding is blowing a deathly blow on everyone, condemning them to death all because they want proof that this is actually bad. It does appear to be fear mongering. No-one has died outside Mexico other than one child, who went to Texas from Mexico for treatment. The Scottish couple are still alive, and they got it ages ago.

Really, everyone around us is blowing it out of proportion.Along with the media.

My advice: get on with your lives, if it starts spreading a bit too much, stay indoors.

It's a conspiracy to take our minds of the credit crunch, increase government spending and create jobs in the pharmaceutical areas .

Well it could be? I think it's a little over exaggerated at the moment. If more people start getting it then it should be level 5.

I agree that the media have blown it out of proportion. The people who died might have had other health problems of low immunity from cold/flu.

I mean they are taking precautions like how the woman went to her work, so her work sent the staff she came in contact with off with some pills. It isn't exactly life threatning as it seems.

I am getting a bit sick of sitting on the bus and people looking at me as if I have the plague (I have a cold which I always get at the start of a new season). Whenever I sniff I get stared at.

We have technology these days to combat anything really, afterall UK has been preparing for something like this to happen. It will all just pass by hopefully and nobody will need to panic

H1N1 is the most common cause of the flu.

It's a typical MEDC vs. LEDC argument. MEDCs have better health care while LEDCs have virtually little health care. Mexico probably doesn't vaccine their popularity as much as any MEDC does e.g. UK. You never know, basic vaccines that children have in this country may keep the virus at bay.
