I thought it was incredibly unoriginal and not very entertaining to be honest. I hear Hellsing Ultimate is good, but the original series didn't leave a great impression on me so I doubt I'll bother with it.
Aint you tryed watching it? First episode you dont see much fighting others it gets good.
Maybe its not your thing, but I've got to question the "unoriginal" part, Hellsing has a pretty unique dynamic to it which i haven't seen in any other show, anime or not. Equally its an interesting art style will a nicely developed mythology. Equally it has a hilarious take on what us Brits are like.
I cant really think of any other anime or show in general thats at all similar so the unoriginal part seems like a bit of an unfair comment.
I won't disagree that it was quite dynamic at parts, but as a vampire series I didn't think it was doing anything new. That's why I said I thought it was quite unoriginal, plot-wise anyway. It took me a long while to get into it, but the characters kept me going. Even though Victoria was quite an annoying, cliche character, I couldn't bring myself to dislike her and Alucard was just damn awesome. I wouldn't say its bad or anything, it does have its merits even from my point of view, but like you say its probably just not my thing.Maybe its not your thing, but I've got to question the "unoriginal" part, Hellsing has a pretty unique dynamic to it which i haven't seen in any other show, anime or not. I mean dynamic more in the sense of how the characters interact with one another, in this case specificity alucard simply because its the only program ive ever know to include a truly immortal character. Plenty of anime's will include a almost unkillable character, but they never go beyond almost, since the standard dynamic requires a realistic risk of death or at the very least the loose occasionally and maybe be in danger once of twice.I won't disagree that it was quite dynamic at parts, but as a vampire series I didn't think it was doing anything new. But with alucard this never happens, no matter what he's put up against, none of them are even the remotest threat.
That's really what drew me to this anime, and one of the reasons i don't really think this can be put down as just another vampire flick. Considering the total lack of risk to the main character after all, you'd think it would be hard to build tension around a story, this anime unlike others instead just makes use of the characters well deserved confidence and cockyness combined with his interest in toying with his opponents in order to pass the time "/ If there's another anime that does this, im not aware of it. Hence my complaint about the show being referred to as unoriginal "/
