I was also thinking this. Would they be doing this if they hadn't been found out or would they still b spending more of our money getting their chimney cleaned in their second homes? I don't think they would ever come forward for this and the only reason we're having such drastic action from DC is that he want's the public to like him so he has no choice. It's just one big embarasment anyone who did it should just be told to leave.. At the end of the day which countries parliment spends the civilians money for their own personal gain. I think it's just ours.

You can't really blame them... There were never any rules put in place regarding expenses.. Some of these claims are perfectly legit it's just where do you draw the line?

I think it's because it's an unfair and stupid system, they have a really good wage and don't need a personal claims system, only one to help out their local areas if anything (would you rather have YOUR money go towards helping the country or to go towards some one's back pocket, for example ) If it was normal people like you and me, it can be considered money laundering and would result in a lengthy prisonment.

for the votes. he's already loaded as it is, as are many other conservatives. they had no reason to claim for anything.

In that case then, everything is for votes. If that is the case, then I think a good way to determine Brown and Cameron would be how they react for votes, since Cameron has been quick and has taken more action than Brown, I think we can now see that taking action over this is better than doing nothing.

As for the Conservatives are loaded claim, true many are, and so are MP's from across the board. Labour supporters always use the claim which was true in the victorian ages but now applies to nearly all parties, including Labour.

It doesn't matter how much money you have/what party you belong to, if you have manipulated the expenses (like the minister Malik did) then you should face criminal charges.

You think they'd actually give the money back if they weren't caught out? They're all idiots, but I can't blame them. If I had access to free money I'd take it.

Who said that? - I believe criminal charges should be brought against the worse cases and the mild cases resolved with the MP's being sacked from the party.

There is no excuse for the majority of them, and how convenient is it that Tony Blairs expense forms were 'accidently' shredded.
