I personally think Habbo staff should choose the older users (account wise), because they would have the most knowledge about the game.

Not neccessarily... Most people that started years back would have quit for a year or two thus meaning that they would only have knowledge of older versions and not the most recent ones. Sure, their date of creation suggests that they've played for longer, but in most cases this is not true.

There is also the fact that the majority of older accounts are hacked/traded; can they really be trusted?

The truth is that it is most probable that the 50 winners of this competition (because that's all it is: a competition with a slightly unusual prize that doesn't consist of furniture or badges) will be chosen at random.
