    Default PS3 can't read CDs

Great - now I have to go to the store and get a new one after spending an hour on the phone to Sony trying to fix my problem. 1 hour I will never get back ;/

I've tried everything - DvDs, Music CDs, Several games and nothing - zilch.

It shoes the blue light - it even has that loading thing in the top right, the disc just doesn't appear on the screen.

    Lucky I had insurance anyway.

So many problems with the 60GB...

I had this with my 40GB. Sony replaced it for free but I think they charge for replacements now unless you have continuous play.

I've never had any problems like this with the 80gb model.

    Mine is perfectly fine...

There isn't much you can do really if Sony won't fix it (for free).

Happened to my 60GB PS3 - Sony had to fix it cost like £200 I think.
Thats the only way you'll get around it - also Sony are most likely the cheapest. Its either pay or no play.

I have insurance - I'm taking it so that it can be repaired there for free and the 80gb is the latest and that's been improved so 80gb users have a less risk of getting these stupid problems.

And to answer the other people - I have insurance so I'm taking it to GAME so I can get it repaired or get it replaced. The thing I'm worried about is if I can keep my harddrive..

I think you'll be unlucky about getting the hard drive back if it's replaced, they'll give you a refurbished console most likely, that's what they usually do.

Back up your hard drive on an external hard drive. If you don't have one just use a memory stick to copy your save files onto.

You probably will be able to unless your USB has hardly any space.
