    Default Favourite atmospheric films?

One thing I love about film is a sense of atmosphere. I love long takes and all that shibang, and I think it's one of the best advantages film can offer. Along with cinematography being a life of its own, of course:

    Stalker
    Picnic at Hanging Rock
    Elephant
    Punch-Drunk Love
    L'eclisse
    Through a Glass Darkly

    Hum

Damn, I forgot Blade Runner. I thought Alien was pretty bad, there was no sense of urgency and the atmosphere didn't really exist.

It was visually good, but there was no threat and as a result the whole film fell apart. Jaws is just all around bad....

How can anyone say that? Jaws is one of the greatest films to ever grace the silver screen. I hope you're not basing your opinion on the look of the shark.

Watched Mystic River the other night, very consistant dark atmosphere to it I think.

Still not sure what I make of the ending though.
    something.
