    Default Prizes

I've been trying to keep a low profile lol, but couldn't stop myself from commenting on what I'm seeing here.

The number of competitions being run are few, which is no big deal, I always believe in quality rather than quantity. So as long as they are good what does it matter. But what saddens me, are the prizes. Prizes of one or two club sofas isn't always an attractive enough prize. Surely with all the donations that this department has received, couldn't they increase the mimimum prizes to at least 3 club sofas.

The department must have quite a bit stored away from donations, and I've not done a great deal of research, but looking at the two current competitions running, the total prizes amount to 3 club sofas. I donated before Christmas, I lost count of what I donated, but I again donated a further 100 club sofas in March of this year to help boost donations. That 100 alone will last a few years based on current prizes.

So my recommendation is increase prizes, that may in turn increase entries. Just my opinion

I have to agree here. When I was staff there were always lots of competitions and they had varied prizes, but now there doesn't seem to be many run which is a shame.
    I love it when you
    flex like that

Then I'm sure you will agree with me, if there are only two or three competitions running, the department could easily increase the prize from anything between 3 and 5 HCs. Even a simple slogan competition could then have a prize of 3 HCs, and I'm sure entries would be boosted.

When I was competition staff last year I was only for one month / one competition because to me the thought that had to go into new competition ideas was quiet a bit and then to be given a lousey prize for the people who entered the competition didnt seem good enough for that, aswell has having to look and read all the people who entered.

Even though the prizes was not going to me, I didnt think that the effort on my behalf and then those who had entered deserved such little prizes when like you say there have been masses of donations. Over 200hc spare, and taking into consideration extra events at valentines etc theres stll seems to be

I dont know if they are trying to preserve stocks or something but I know a few times people such as your self have said you dont mind donating 100hc or 1hc to a department if you can see that they are being used. Obviously you are but this isnt the first thread like this thats been created over the past year and although you have donated you should have more of a say or atleast be listened to about your thoughts.

I just had a quick look at this thread
    http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=546809
and just a rough estimate is that around 700hc's have been donated to competitions alone over the last 18months.

If I remember I think there has to be 5 new competitions a month? well if you do the maths and then say the prizes for each of them competitons were 5hc that would only be around 450hc. Over 200hc spare, and taking into consideration extra events at valentines etc theres still seems to be a massive ***** of rares missing.

There are currently 3 competitions waiting to be moved. Only the manager has the right to do so, so there's plenty of prizes ready to be recieved. I have no idea why it's taking a while and I can only assume that danny's really busy with real life!

As for prizes, I assume that it's the judgement of the manager to set the prize but I have also been a bit confused by how low some of the prizes are, considering the huge donations that have come in from yourself and... was it jhr? lol feels like a long time ago now. As for entries though, I don't think they've been effected by prize quantity but for competitions such as 'Room with a view', the prize could definitely be improved!

I agree the prizes for competitions recently are barely worth the hassle of entering.

I notice you are a Senior member of the team, the only senior, if you don't mind me asking what do you do over and above the other members of the team? If Danny is busy, perhaps you could lend a hand?

Still, my concern is what seems to be low prizes, and if there is a reason for the case.

I remember when I first joined the competitions department was really big and produced huge competitions each month with really really good prizes.

It would be good to refind this, maybe Alice, seeing as you can't seem to stay away you should rejoin the department

I moderate the competitions. My red writing's all over :p. I also give 'competition reports' about the good/improvements needed for their next competition etc. I do the best I can but my work is restricted by the permissions I was given. I can't move competitions from the private 'approval' forum to the public forums and I can't post in the community notice board saying 'TA-DA, HERE'S A NEW COMPETITION, GO ENTER IT!' (in a formal way of course). I don't know why this is and I did mention this to the manager and asked Sammeth to move a competition but I assume he had lots of PMs and was too busy to deal with it. Maybe I will ask again given the circumstances but the manager's slowly coming out from his busyness!

As for prizes, I do agree that these should be improved and I will also discuss this and make my voice heard more clearly within the higher ranks to get the most out of a brilliant department!

^^ When I was manager, I made it this way because the seniors didn't tend to have top notch punctuation, grammar and spelling skills, so I liked to preview and moderate all competitions before releasing them to the public .

I believe I was asked to raise prizes while I was manager too and I did and we continued being able to with no problems, so if there is some concern about running out - don't worry, it all lasts .
