That's just because solid state memory is extremely expensive, IMO Apple will scrap the 8GB Touch and do 16, 32 and 64GB models, then next year go up again etc.

I think the iPod Touch 3rd gen will have a camera, maybe a microphone, and I also think they will do 32GB & 64GB versions, if so then I would consider buying one when they come out, to jailbreak ect, then I can take the jailbreak off my phone and keep it legit, to much risk if I drop my iPhone and break it whilst it's jailbroken, warranty = gone.

well... My zune is lovely. I JUST love the games. The wireless checkers (multiplayer!), and its small (smaller that a credit card, i checked ;]) The OS only takes up 100MB of space. I have 1,000+ songs i got from the zune marketplace and not one additional charge. of course i use tunebite to rid the music of the license so I have it forever. I even have TV shows that i also got from the market place although the pass doesnt cover videos.

I certainly hope not. An MP4 player with a camera? It won't be considered an MP3/4 player then, it will be like my video recorder which could play music, videos, pictures - it'll just be a camera then, unless marketing strategies have gone down the pot? :/

It does look good, but I prefer my X-Fi for now I'll wait and see when it comes out to make any opinions though.

I don't agree at all, there is always something new and exciting, it just hasn't been thought of yet.

I don't think we need new things, we just need it all to be put together at an affordable price, I think it's more of a waiting game at the moment. The technology is there to make the ultimate device which functions as a very good and capable media player, mobile phone, pocket PC and camera in one device. The iPhone gets the closest to this but 32GB storage and a 3MP camera is hardly pushing boundaries, it would hardly be affordable if it combined an MP3 player, Smartphone and camera.

Android would do this well, or even the N97. If someone came up with an Android device with the Hero interface, but with specs so it wouldn't lag, with a load of memory, a really nice camera with xenon flash and a decent battery life, we'd be extremely close.
