Default Can't get days off work.

So i just booked a last minute holiday on sunday before going to work. It's for a week tomorrow to turkey for 10 days. I'll be missing 3 days of work, i've asked for the time off in work, it's only part time btw cause im a student, and then they told me i can have one of the dates off. I asked if i got someone to cover for me (which i can do) can i have the days off, they said maybe. So i got someone and they still won't let me.
Is there anything else i could do? or should i just bite the bullet and just not turn up for work

They may give you a warning not to do it again or fire you.

If you say you have swine flu, you get seven days off instantly.

you should have checked to see if you have got the time off before you booked the holiday lol if i was you i'd just not turn up, at least you gave them notice. but they might fire you which isn't a good thing atm

If you've got it covered it shouldn't be a problem? Where do you work? If you go on the holiday you'll get the sack.

If you have only asked someone to cover you but you won't be doing another shift for this person then it would have to be classed as a holiday. At my work place swaps have to be arranged at least a week and a half before anything happens.

You really should have checked to see if you could have got it off before you booked the holiday as a lot of people may already be having their holidays at the time you go, therefore leaving your work short staffed.

rookie mistake! never ask your employer for time off, simply call in sick for holidays lasting 1-7 days

Just try to moderate it and you won't be suspected

I'm liking the swine flu idea, i'll get a friend to ring up pretending to me, and say i couldn't go on holiday because i have swine flu, and therefore can not come into work,
    :]
oh well, ill let you know if i get fired aha

Just use the swine flu idea
then you shouldn't get fired since that would be really unfair!
