Nah i aint jailbroke how do i do it and what are the downsides of it?

It's been a while since I last jailbroke an ipod, but I think the best method is still redsn0w (http://redsn0w.com).
I have never found any downsides, but I'm sure someone else will come along and find something to moan about.
