Help fixing my laptop

[Story]

I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop, nothing special just amilo laptop for £300.

I used it for a couple of months then it started going a weird it would charge, and then wouldn't and the charger cable had to be in a certain position to charge it, then it stopped charging all together.

Now i don't know whether its the battery or the battery charger which is the cause.

What do you guys recommend?

Does it turn out without the battery in?

Sounds like either the battery charger cable is dodgy or the connector in the laptop is dodgy. Doubt its the battery if it is intermittently charging
