friendship can be affected but it depends how much you both want to make it work. i have a friend i met on a ski trip and she lives in newcastle, and i live in london. she's one of my closest friends and that's because we keep in contact through msn, and we talk on the phone a lot too. it all depends on how much effort you're both willing to put in and if you're both willing to do so there shouldn't be any problems at all.

I don't think distance does affect friendship tbh. Three of my closest friends live far away, but I'm more close to them than I am to other people..

I Think it does, I have a friend that moved to Australia and we only started talking again like last week an that was only once in about 2/3 years it may be diffrent for other people but yea, I think the further away you are the less contact you keep.

I think so, like my friend is moving to Wales and I don't think we'll be very good mates over facebook, unless I saw her, so I think it does.

If your really close friends it will, but if your decent friends it wont really youll still talk. One of my good friends moved about 2 hours away i probably see him like once every 2 months or me and my buddies go visit him were still close and talk quite abit actually.

I've kind of became distant from one of my mates (the only one I've known since reception as well). It's kind of because he lives more out of the way from the rest of us so can only come out with us if he can get a lift over. And when we're organising a night out, we're always like, 'oh btw did you ask Chris?'.

Then when we all went to uni, he probably went the furthest away and by himself so he quickly made new mates over there and we just don't talk as much online (I mean him vs all of us, not just me). It's not like bad.. the relationship is still there, and when we all come back from uni he comes out with us. It's just kind of what it is really.

A real friendship is affected by distance, yes.
