'cos you get in an arguement with someone and then most the time everyone just laughs at your witty insults so I thought it was fine but aparently when someone says 'im writing you off'

'your writing me off, you meen your abandoning me? oh don't worry I don't blame you it's your dads fault he set a bad example' is not acceptable.

    some people are so touchy

    i wouldn't have thought so.

im not going to raise the issue of multi-culturalism in the uk, because i know where that will end up...

i'm quite racially tolerant but if i'm in an arguement with someone black/asian i'm not going to refrain from being racist

Can you do these things without causing a public scene and people thinking your a racist/fat hater/new right extremist/nasty/snob

Usually in an arguement i'll say anything I don't care how below the belt it is but today I found myself gritting my teath on the best comeback ever 'cos I was advised by my friend not to do it as people would probably take offense.
okay i'll be honest. of course it's not acceptable but that doesn't stop a lot of people, including myself. if someone is fat, i'll call them fat. if someone is ugly, i'll call them ugly (init jack). if someone is black, i'll call them black... you get the idea.
i wouldn't hesitate to use someones religion/race/beliefs/appearance against them. i don't really like bringing up other issues like family or anything because it's not fair and i wouldn't like it if it happened to me. if you want to truly offend someone you have to get personal with them and if you know they're sensitive about something you use it against them to get a reaction. i find it all too fun.

i probably do get looked down on for it, i know one person who was offended because i called someone a "stupid ******" (he happened to be stupid AND black, calling him stupid on it's own wouldn't have had the same effect) and she did call me snobby it's not acceptable but it doesn't really make a scene from what i've noticed. probably because, as jordy said, most people do it for a joke with friends but i don't and know many people don't like it. if they don't, it's fine by me but i've actually found people who don't get all caught up in it or touchy. one of them is even asian (indian) himself! i'm not racist but i'll use their race against them. obviously someone is going to say "that IS racist" but it's not from my point of view so i don't care.

Your not saying it because your racist you just know it's going to get to him
definitely. if it was some random black person in the street who knocked me over of course i'd use the term "black" (well.. probably worse) against them, there's nothing else i'll know about them to get at them :S i know "idiot" or walking away would be better but that just aint how i roll

i might give up on being stubborn totally, it onlys put me down.

+ i don't give a damn what someone looks like, if they're awesome, they're awesome, if they're annoying, they're not worth it. simples

when i was a kid and i was mindless i pissed my brother off a bit by calling him halfcast, (im white but he gets tanned easily). But thats when i was young.

So it's not fair to bring up family issues (which they may have some control over), but it is fair to bring up things about their appearance or personality which they have no control over? :S

And are you basically saying you wouldn't like people to bring up family issues about you, but you'd be fine with them using your religion/race/beliefs/appearance against you? :S

    This makes no sense lol.

i think she's trying to say the family ain't they key problem, just the person. Family could be awesome could just be what they turned out as a kid.
