Everything that can be down on the iPad can be done on a Netbook
Try running a 3D OpenGL application on Chrome OS. See how far you get.

I shall reserve judgement until I see one in person, but first impressions? It's crap.

    This is my view.

Also, IMO they've deliberately left features out so they can release a new one and make more $$$. Multi-tasking and camera anyone?

At the same physical size a netbook is far more functional.

Every company does this. and you would too if you were in there shoes. It just means smart people know not to buy at least this generation of them

Multi-tasking could be via Software Update, all the touch screen models are capable (technically and as shown via Jailbreaks) but I suppose they will add a camera in time.

Compared to what HP/Dell (some PC company) revealed at CES, it's a total failure, seeing as they are heavily rumoured to use a different version of Windows 7 (a tablet form of the OS was revealed during the show as well). If it used a real OS it might be fine, but because it uses a different version of the iPhone OS, it just isn't appealing.

Calling it the iPad was a terrible mistake too. It's common business practice to never give two products similar names, especially when "iPad" is just the American pronounciation of "iPod" It's one thing having a product fail, but the name as well? *shudder*

It also looks dreadful too, with one button attached to the front at the bottom, and about half an inch of border around the screen. It is just an iPod Touch that mated with a digital photo frame :/

your completely unnecessary and unprovoked anger make your opinion far less substantiated and reasonable, theres no reason to be all offended by a giant ipod. there's ways to express your extreme distaste for something without getting your panties all bunched up, and usually people will actually take you seriously if you use those methods.

that being said it seems like apple is working backwards by releasing an ipod that's bigger instead of smaller. and yes, it basically is a giant ipod. im scratching my head to find a reasonable use for it, tbh.
