i had a facebook for years, and they tend to change the layout once or twice a year.
1) no, they wont change it back.
2) no, its not more confusing, they just put buttons in different places (from what i see in pictures its virtually exactly the same). give it a few weeks and you wont even remember what the previous layout looked like.
3) if you dont have it yet wait at least a few days, it takes facebook a while to update all the profiles
4) for the love of god don't join the "we want the old facebook back" groups. they spring up every time facebook makes the slightest change to their site and it never does anything.

anyway im looking at these pictures and it looks almost comically similar, why are some people getting their panties in a bunch? :S

Change is always bad when it's Facebook to be honest. The service is ruined by too many people joining groups and seeing as this doesn't give an option to remove Groups from appearing on the News Feed, I do not care.

there's select people that do all the group joining, i have a friend that literally is in over 1000 fan pages. i just block them, most people dont join that many groups.

They've added these lines down the left and right, and left the random chat box on its own in the bottom right. Looks very crappy tbh.
