i wasnt getting on about how its not going to be needed to be moderated, i was merely asking if that was an option. It would actually solve a reasonable amount of things. People saying that we dont need lm*ao or wt* etc wont need to moan anymore.

Its more of a case that the older members who dont care about swearing can turn it on or off, like how habbo have it.

    Was merely a suggestion

Optional filter is pretty much having no filter, I don't imagine anyone would bother keeping it on because they wouldn't be able to see half the things all the cool kids are saying. Also with a forum it's a far more permanent message - on Habbo it's gone in a few seconds and doesn't ruin the look of a place for long. I have nothing against swearing in principle and do it plenty in the real world (mostly when driving or playing pro evo) but I don't see it as being at all necessary here when things seem to work fine without it.

Secondly, habbo had it filtered for however long but they changed it. We've had rules on this forum that havnt changed for however long, and they've been changed. I see no reason as to why it cant be
Here we go with the political systems comparisons again.

Habbox is a dictatorship, you didn't elect the leaders and they can do whatever they want. Get over it.

I'm fully with Tom, there's nothing wrong with swearing and I do it enough irl but I don't want to see it plastered all over here forever. Even in the form of abbreviations because you still read the abbreviation out loud in your head kinda (well I do anyway).

Doesn't matter whether its the biggest swear word or not, its just unnecessary.

Btw if you wanna avoid the filter in this thread highlight a letter in the word and change the size to 2, looks far more elegant

That requires more effect then clicking bold.. Specially on quick reply.

Lmfao, is such a petty "swear word" its used so commonly around everywhere and as said it adds more effect then lol.

Pmsl, rofl and lmao all give more effect than lmao. I don't find lmfao to be all that more effective than rofl or pmsl anyway, in fact I find pmsl carries more emphasis than any abbreviation using swear words. But its by the by, its avoiding the filter and we have a filter for a reason.

i was the one that mentioned it last time..

I mention it because do you think the inhabitants of china like the way their country is ran? They need to realise that they should listen to what members want rather than deciding that because they dont want it, theyre not going to implement it. To generate more people coming to the forum, and more staying, they should at least consider the ideas, rather than outright dismissing them. If the majority of the forum would like something, but the management dont, it is more than likely it wont be given. I myself, dont really care either way, because its got to the point on this forum where i will be leaving, and soon.
