    Default Jaw pain

Yesterday I woke up with a massive pain at the back left of my jaw, it's not my teeth and gums.

I can't open my mouth very wide at all because of the pain and it hurts to chew food.

I put it down to sleeping weird on it, but I woke up this morning, tried to eat and it hurts even worse.

I can't get into the doctors until about Wednesday so does anyone know anything that it could be?

have you been chewing gum to much or maybe you strained it like opening it to wide or something i do get that sometimes but it goes after a little while. Go tot he doctors on tuesday if it's still there at least then you know it is worth going to the doctor for if you have to wait until then and it's still hurting !

I know you said its not your teeth but you might have been grinding your teeth in your sleep or even when you're awake without knowing it. If you're stressed about anything or angry that can cause it. I know I do it a lot without even knowing and it does make my jaw ache considerably. It could well just be tension.

Maybe but I would have thought it depends. If you've slept with your jaw clenched all night for even one night it can make it ache for quite a while. Plus, if that is the case you might've pulled a muscle.

That sounds quite likely. I've done that in my neck a few times and it's bloody awful.
