    Default Blood Tests

Okay so I always feel ill all the time and keep thinking that there is something wrong with me, my mum just says that I'm a hypochondriac and I think I agree with her But I'd rather be on the safe side just in case.

Anyway my question.. I want to be checked for alot of things with a blood test but I don't know what I want to be checked for. Can I ask for a blood test from the doctor and get them to check for anything or do I have to know what I want to be checked for?

I doubt they will give you a blood test unless there is something suspectedly wrong with you, it's a bit of a waste of money otherwise.

If you want peace of mind just go to the doctors for a healthcheck, they will be able to tell you if you are healthy or not.

Well you could go to the doctor and state your symptoms and let him/her decide whether you are ill or not.
You may feel ill because you are under some sort of stress which can lead to physical symptoms or you may have a condition that actually means you are ill. They are the only ones really that can tell you and I am sure you mother will support you with this as she is not a medical professional. =]

Ah okay thanks. I'm gonna leave it to be honest and just ask for a diabetes test which is just a finger***** isn't it. Anyway yeah I'll just go for that which is what is bothering me most because I have dizzy spells almost every 2 weeks. Probably either high or low blood sugar levels so I'm gonna get it checked out

Yes and I used to make the mistake of not drinking enough water which can cause the same symptoms because of dehydration.

If you go for a diabetes test they'll probably make you urinate into a cup and take some blood from your arm for a test anyway. That's what happened for me anyway.

If you're feeling dizzy and just generally washed out you might be anaemic, like not enough iron in your blood. When I went doctors for it they gave me a blood test and it was fine.

Because you mentioned diabetes and they test your urine for that and not your blood? Could be the reason xx

I have blood taken every week and I have done for a numerous amount of months now. I didn't like it at first and for me it really depends which nurse is performing the phlebotomy because some arse more harsh than others. I always get blood taken from the left arm, because I write with the right and I have many friends who (when getting blood taken) do the same. I reckon it hurts more in the arm you perform P) more with.

Either way, good luck to you and remember, it only lasts a second!
