I'd say FMA is on a completely different league compared to Bleach, dunno about Naruto or One Piece cos I haven't seen them but I'm sure there is a reason why FMA is 28th on myanimelist now, whilst one piece is in the 90s, and Naruto and Bleach are in the 400s or something.

When Full Metal Alchemist ends it will go to first place on My Anime List for the same reason Gintama is there right now. The same goes for One Piece.

Yea but thats just 1 site which i have friends who dont use it, and i could be wrong but its a western site so not many japanese people will be on it. And it was mentioned before the ratings dont really get taken into account until the series finishes and series shoot up the ratings like Gintama did.

Compare the sales of the latest Bleach and Gintama volumes to One Piece's

Brotherhood is high up because it's good. Simply as. Loads of people vote on stuff on that website, doesn't make a difference if they're Japanese or American, or if your friends are on it, it's an average. On average, Brotherhood is ranked 28th because so many people love the series and rate it 10s and 9s. One Piece of course will get people who love it like you, but also people who see it as a standard series and give it 6 or 7. It's just that more people see One Piece as average than anime like Brotherhood, and thus it's lower.

Ryuzaki, One Piece has 57 volumes and has been publishing since 1997. Gintama has only 33 volumes and has only been published since 2003. One Piece has a six year head start on Gintama. I'm sure if the sales for One Piece were frozen for six years Gintama would be pretty damn close to catching up. Also, its not like sales actually prove how good a series is, but did you miss the best selling anime DVDs of 2009? The Gintama OVA was up there at number one, and other Gintama DVDs have also been featured high up in the charts every year. Gintama BEST also won animation album of the year and the first and third light novels have also been the top selling light novels in their respective years. I'm sure the movie will also be at the top of the box office. Weigh the facts and statistics before stating that Gintama has 'nothing on One Piece', because it clearly does.

Also, just to clear things up - you have to have seen at least 1/5 of a series on MyAnimeList for your score to count. People have to have seen 41 episodes of Gintama for their scores to count, thats why the series is ranked so high. People who don't like Gintama aren't likely to watch more than 41 episodes and everyone who does watch 41 episodes is probably a fan and has rated the series fairly high. The reason it wasn't ranked as high before was that it didn't have a set number of episodes, so the rank was generated by calculating the average of all the scores (or perhaps a set number of scores) given.

If One Piece ended where it is now people have to have seen 89 episodes for their score to count. Anyone who has seen more than 89 episodes is going to be a big fan of the series, so the score will increase a great deal.

Brotherhood had it easy because it only started a year ago and people probably where told good things about it before or had seen it and watched this where as OP its harder to get into so not as many people have tried it or put it on hold or havent voted etc. It's just that more people see One Piece as average than anime like Brotherhood, and thus it's lower. More peoples ratings get taken into account on FMA than OP.

But when your typical SJ series is selling just over 200,000 copys per volume and OP is selling Over 2 million it must be doing something right. And OP is insanley popular its what dragonball was 10 years ago. But yes i agree it dosen't prove fully that its better seeing as i like serries just as much as OP that dosent sell as much. Like i said gintama wasn't in the has nothing on OP. was meaning about Bleach and naruto mainly. I know about Gintama Best. OP opening 11 single was Best single if i recall. Didn't mean to sound like i was aiming at Gintama only used it as an example in manga sales cause naruto wasnt there.

I'm still on episode fifteen, haha. I haven't really watched any anime in ages, just been reading manga lately and have been quite addicted to Jump Ultimate Stars. Although its starting to wear off now I have completed it. I think its time for a bit of Chrono Trigger now!

JLS ******* suck. Also, yes I do have time to watch it but no desire to right now since I'm occupied with other things. I'm not going to watch anime when I don't feel like it. I haven't even watched the Higashi no Eden movie yet and I was hyped for that.
