A large village in the countryside Sort of where I am now with a distance of 9 miles from a large town, or 12 miles from a larger town that could be a city. In the middle of no where would be painful

I'm pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Closest city is Exeter which is probably a 30-40 min drive.

I have lived in a large city, in the countryside and now in a reasonably sized town. Of all three I prefer the town. It is big enough to be close to all amenities but small enough to be friendlier than the mostly 'cold atmosphere' of a large city.
