The thread title and auction title both say 3rd generation, but the 'detailed item info' section on ebay says 2nd generation.
Also, as far as I'm aware there's no 8gb 3G.

Yeah the way apple done it is 8GB has the lower speed processor and the rest have the faster one. but 3G could mean he bought it when they were refreshed.

It's actually quite a lot for a second hand one. I've seen them go for £60 - £70.
