What people lose is the account, all the feature they gained, rep power, join date, post count (hence features which come with them) etc.

Basically they turn into a noob.

This is 2010, people don't give a **** what their rep power is now a days, nor do people really care about post count.

Their name is one of the main things on their account as people know who they are etc, If you were to come back on an account called something stupid no-one would know who the hell you were, even if you posted a thread about it etc people would forget, with this it'd no longer be the punishment so say some e-rebel comes on and trys to get famous, you're just aiding him by giving his old names back..
