I haven't had one of the new ones but I've had some in the past. The newer ones read out the song name etc I believe, so although you don't have a screen it reads out what you're listening to

But yeah at the end of the day it syncs with your computer and plays music

couldnt you like buy a memory card for your phone? Might be a bit cheaper just a suggestion. But i personally never liked ipod shuffles as no screen but if you dont mind that then its perfect for you.

hmm, if you're going to get a ipod shuffle (costs around 50 pound) you might as well just get a MP3 from argos or something for half the price

Essentially yeah. You convert them to an .MP3 and then just drag and drop onto the MP3 player.

The new iPod shuffle relies on the controls that come with the headphones which, being the white Apple ones, are terrible, so you can't use any others.

If I were you, I'd look for older iPod Nanos on Ebay.

You can use things such as (http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPa...duct_Id=496831) to use any pair of headphones you like but some headphones have a remote built in that should work (from what I am aware they need to be "Made for iPod" due to a small chip inside the remote)
