    I for one, do not believe there is much of a safety risk toward members who post their pictures and as I highlighted before, we do our utmost to protect our members. Nevertheless it was pointed out by a member and agreed by many others that PAPOY poses a safety risk to our users and therefore the opinions in this thread are massively conflicting with a lot of those posted in Richie's thread regarding safety :S.

    Further to this the reason we allow pictures of our users in PAPOY is relatively simple. PAPOY restricts where pictures are posted, is therefore easily moderated and keeps everything nice and simple. People can post their pictures if they choose to do so and elsewhere on the forum it is not a worry what someone looks like or whether or not they have posted a picture or not. I feel that if we abolished the rule the forum would become more cliquey with those who have pictures and those who don't, the attractive members and the, shall we say, less attractive members and people of varying ages. This is easy to monitor in PAPOY where it does already happen. In the case of avatars, this spreads throughout the forum.

    Again the argument "well every fansite does it" does not do anything for me. We are Habbox, we are unique and we are different. We appeal to users younger and older alike and I have no desire to further delve the forum into the realms of immaturity by introducing a rule which I (and many others) believe, will do just that.
    This is the not the main point of the argument though Garion. The main point is that we put off new members with this rule as I have said before most of the pms asking members to remove pictures of themselves are of new members which is not much of a welcome to them. Also as far as I know, pictures are no longer restricted to Papoy as the rule stands. It simply says that they should not be in their avatars or signatures so it is not necessarily restricted to one forum for moderation purposes which used to be the case.

    the security matter isnt relevant, because theres a post a picture of yourself thread. i dont think it looks not professional, i think hxf are trying to be TOO professional.

    Hypothetically, if the rule was overturned it doesn't mean everyone is going to post a picture of themselves as an avatar. If you look in the 'Post a picture of yourself' thread, it's normally the same few people posting pictures of themselves, there's a minority not a majority. I myself wouldn't post a picture of myself as my avatar, I find it unnecessary but if people do want to, I really do not see how it would make the forum immature. It's just like having a picture of you as your facebook profile picture.
    If there's a thread, which is perfectly allowed, with people posting pictures of themselves, then there is no reason for this rule still being here.

    Well these were the results of the poll;

    No, they shouldn't be allowed 12 people, 23.53%
    Yes, they should be allowed but I wouldn't do it myself: 22 people, 43.14%
    Yes they should be allowed and I will do it myself: 12 people, 23.53%
    Indifferent: 5 people 9.80 %

    That means options two and four really aren't going to get any benefit from whether they are there or not because let's face it, it would be pointless implementing it if you're not even going to use it. Basically it's is a virtual tie between 1 and 3, which both has 12 people. Therefore, I wouldn't say that it should be implemented just for the benefit of those mere 12 people who voted yes and would actually use it. That is by far not a representation of the forum at all.

    That is if we're looking at this from a statistical point of view.

    I don't think it's safe to assume most people want the rule changed. A few people are saying they do but there are plenty who haven't voiced an opinion either way and I don't believe the poll was open for a sufficient amount of time in order to gain a representative view of people's feelings. For those who compared the self-avatar to the likes of buttons' avatar - the difference is that one is a professional photo of a celebrity while the other is a dull, blurry, eye-sore with a big flash of light in the middle [comment not aimed at member, but merely describing the avatar itself]. If everyone's avatars were of dark gloomy photographs like that, this forum would suck, to put it plainly.

    Personally I don't see why a member, just because they are relatively new, gets away with storming in here and breaking a pretty major rule for over 12 hours after being told by multiple moderators and members of management. If a rule is changed for fear of losing the odd new member, think of the rest of us who have accepted the current rules for a much longer period of time and perhaps worry about losing us.

    I love these comments about Habbox and paedophiles. Common sense would tell you that you do not need to know what someone looks like to have an obsession or decide whether or not to flirt with someone. I should know, I've flirted with half the forum and did not know what they looked like. Heck, you could call it a thrill. Making it so that users do not post avatars may change the likelihood (even though it is highly unlikely anyway), it will not stop it. Besides, if a child is stupid enough to meet someone they do not know, they probably deserve it. Online friendships usually develop with video or audio covnersations, maybe sharing of pictures and Facebook. It's kinda obvious who you're talking to :/
