Whats this game

It was on ps2 (but I think it was multiplat) and you were this guy who had to travel through like alternate universes and solve something. I remember a bit where you had to get a load of people to meet up and you had the get the right people from the right dimension as they were opposite (like a nice little girl would be mean or busy so she couldn't come to where you wanted to meet). It was quite japanese styled I think aswell.

its not ico i dont think, the guy was quite normal looking and grown up, blonde hair I think.

What weapon did the main character use? I'm pretty sure I've played this game.

What were the enemies like?
