I agree with you in that perspective, but I think in reality it would humiliate the kid in the class (keep in mind how young kids are when they go through sexual education) who actually is homosexual, and who is already ridiculed by his classmates. Its not even because i'm gay, i'd say exactly the same thing if i wasn't. I firmly believe that all kinds of relationships should be taught in sex education not only so "gays" can understand their relationships better but so other people can too. Because of course, ignorance breeds intolerance.
truly bizarre!
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
nope they didnt teach us gay sex
hi my name is lexi
i'm living this crazy beautiful life.*
There was a brief mention of homosexuality, but nothing more than that.
I agree kinda but I think the vast majority of homosexuals do not even realise they are homosexual themselves by year 8/9, I certainly didn't, let alone tell people. If they have told people by then they are clearly comfortable enough with their sexuality to do so. Also if someone is bullied for being gay then I actually think teaching about it would lessen that not heighten it. As far as I'm aware homosexuality is only mentioned when talking about sex protection, STDs etc, thus associating it with "badness". I'm not saying that the intricacies of anal sex should be taught but just like they talk about straight relationships they should talk about gay ones. Educating people about it, telling them that gay people aren't "weird" or morally wrong but are people just like everyone else would really help.
I mean we teach about islam and non-chrisitian religions in Religious Studies right? That doesn't increase islamaphobia, quite the opposite, it makes it seem more normal because people actually understand what they believe in. I think this would do the same thing for homosexuality.
I was at an all boys school we knew enough about being gay anyway so they didn't bother. At least that was probably their reasoning
They brought people in from a LGBT group to talk to us about it. The teacher makes the odd comment under her breath about being gay so it sort of loses the point.
Nope they're all homophobes init
Seriously though, how can people have never had any sex ed? :S I'm sure we first had it in like year 8 or 9 then I remember at about year 10 they split the girls and boys up and in the boys class this woman showed us how to put a johnny on with this model lol and then they were always bangin on about contraception all the time
