What do you mean 'dont need to exist'?

I mean that if a band has a certain sound to it but still falls within the "rock" genre it should be perfectly acceptable to just call them a rock band (and let their music identify them instead of a random word) rather than inventing specific names. I don't talk about my various rap music as acid, NY mafioso, crunk, conscious, g-funk and all other things I could break them down as, so I don't see why it needs doing for any other type of music.

Oh quote me where I said that was a fact? I think a -rep for my opinion is a tad sad. And in future at least quote the whole post.

The way you wrote it was not as an opinion, you were stating it as though it was actually an important detail to consider. For your ignorance I think a -rep is perfectly acceptable, especially considering the quality of certain genres was never part of the discussion and has no bearing on the actual topic.
Furthermore I didn't need to quote the whole post because I wasn't replying to all of it, I think that much is obvious.

There is NOTHING wrong with posting some things that don't add to the discussion, as long as part of your post does (fyi the bottom bit does xx)

And I never intended o put it across as fact, you just interpreted it like that.
