    M. Night was actually going to take out Momo from the live action films until his kids persuaded him otherwise. His reasoning was that Momo was a pointless character that didn't actually contribute to the story. Thats the problem with all of these directors. When adapting an original work they take out every little detail they deem unimportant and in doing so take a step away from the fans they're aiming the movie at. Momo is somewhat of the mascot character and not to mention essential comic relief and buddy to Appa. They should listen to the fans more.

Woohoo, go his kids. Have they still got that stupid thing where the firebenders need fire next to them?

Yeah. M. Night didn't actually let the public know of that change until the movie was completed. Sneaky bugger. That means all of the battles prior to the comet are definitely going to be different to what we saw in the series. Thank the Lord M. Night kept it so the comet makes all firebenders stronger though. He said that none of the firebenders will need a source once the comet comes around. So hopefully we can get a really epic showdown between Zuko and Azula like in the series.

A sequence from the movie has been released.

Apart from the fact that everyone seems surprised to see the Fire Nation on their doorstep (surely they saw them coming, they live in the middle of the ocean for god sake), it looks pretty good. Sokka's actor sounds quite like the voice actor from the series. Its just a real shame they're going to pronounce his name as soak-uh in the movies. Along with Ah-ng and Ee-row this movie is going to be ear cancer.

Also, why do the Water Tribe have spears and surely some of the Fire Nation ships are in close enough range to be water bended.

    Another sequence has been released.

Zuko looks so stupid standing in his little bonfire. Why doesn't Katara just extinguish it and then Zuko is effectively beaten. Fire bending seems surprisingly slow as well. The fire is not in sequence with Zuko's movements and already the choreography on Dev Patel's part is a little disappointing. However, Katara kicks major ass. Good casting.

Was quite looking forward to this film, need my yearly fix of fantasy adventure. However after reading through this thread, seems like it'd be better to watch the series first (having not seen it at all) before the film. That said, even without seeing the series I knew what Aang was meant to look like and the kid playing him looks like he's fresh out the womb for gods sake.

This film will only cover the first season (Water), but I don't suppose it will matter much if you haven't seen it since so much has been left out anyway. Most of the people in this thread are devoted Avatar fans though, so naturally we're going to be skeptical of the movie. If you haven't seen the series you'll probably get more enjoyment from the movie than us.

Also, yet another TV Spot has been released.

Nice shot of Appa, although he is looking a little funky. Well, his face is anyway.

America get this film in 2 days, we get it in 45 days. Even France get it way before us.
