    okay fair enough

yeh i know niamh but most people don't just go out with guys or girls when they're not sure their sexuality, it's not like "i might be gay so i'll date a guy". i know you don't need to tell your parents if you're unsure (that's why i don't) but i'm not gonna date a girl till i know, that'd just be stupid & unfair on them. plus people will know about it if you're dating someone of same sex, so it's basically already as though you've came out...:S

turned gay? As in--like suddenly overnight, right

What parents don't know wont hurt them, especially when it means the difference between them being proud of you, or ashamed. I'm not saying that's right, but that's how a lot of parents would feel!

If I was gay, I wouldn't tell my dad because he'd probably do this But I'd tell my mum cos she'd understand more

Hypothetically I could easily tell my parents (by easily I mean I couldn't literally go "hey im gay" but I know no real consequences will follow like in the example), my dad will only be pissed if I kept it from him. Even then pissed is just like "why didn't you tell me?" in this situation.

Meh, I don't think it's right. I mean yeah they brought you into this world but once they do they can't really control who you turn out to be.. I mean I know if my parents had the choice they wouldn't want me to be bi? I plan on leaving the house and never coming back when I am 18 so why should I let them into something they don't need to know?

I don't agree with what he did because I think he should be supportive of her seeing as it's something new to her and can probably be very confusing.

I think maybe he's just really confused and mad at the fact she didn't tell him. He'll probably calm down and talk to her soon.

I think the situation seems incredibly harsh. Both my parents know and they are both fine with it, luckily. I think it takes so much courage to tell parents about sexuality and I can only imagine what it must feel like for them to react in a bad way.

i'd tell my mum beforehand so she can come to accept it and if she didn't id do the same as special probably
My dad isn't really the person you'd talk to about that. He'd probably end up doing the same thing if I told him.
