    Default Pump Free Soap Dispenser

Ok so i have seen these pump free soap dispensers that remove the germy pump which will then get on your hands. But then my thinking is that if you touch the pump your intending to wash your hands thus killing the germs. Can anyone clear up how this invention is any good?

Cause before you wash your hands you have to touch the pump to get the soap onto your hands thus your germs going on the pump. Then you'll touch it again with clean hands the next day then those germs will go onto your hands. So if it doesn't have a pump, less germs are being spread.

I see what you're saying, the germs will stay on the pump, but then you wash your hands, and the germs are gone without touching the pump again... until the next time you wash your hands. I don't see the point in having it pump free, pumps are fine.

i think the point is to have as little mutual contact with it in general. soap kills about 99% of germs, not all of it, so if someone were to touch the pump they could still potentially pick up germs from it even if they wash their hands. so making it hands free basically leaves zero chance of the flu from spreading (which im pretty sure was the underlying idea)

You touch like 5 penises a day from doorhandles. Frankly, germs on soap dispensers are the least of my concerns. There's germs on everything!

And those pump free things are motion activated anyway, or I've not seen the other ones? :S

It's a gimmick. You've got to keep in mind, although you may not touch the soap dispenser you still touch the tap (unless you work in a hospital and use your elbows) so either way you'll be touching the tap (with dirty hands) and then turning it off (replacing the germs).

It's also a gimmick because some germs survive for 24 hours on a COLD surface, nevermind a warm, wet enviroment such as hands .

Well think of it like this: Even if it's soap and someone else has just used it (a dirty looking smelly man) after just going for a dump, would you really want to touch it then? Also if you're washing your hands because you're gonna go eat then you don't want the feeling of making your hands dirtier beforehand for no reason. Also if the pump is empty then you'll have a dissapointingly higher number of germs on your hands and with no way to get rid of them.

Also for people with OCD it can be reassuring.
