Green Day - What type of music are they?

Yeh.. They a NOT Punk.. Punk rock Maybe..But since Their latest album They've Become far to Mainstream And could be classed as Pop Punk. :s

Whoa Whoa Whoa!!! GD have attracted a load of teenie boppers for fans (which I don't think they even relise) and American Idiot isn't as good as the past albums but why are we bringing MCR into this? Emo kicks butt - as for simple plan aren't so good. Where was I going? Erm........oh yeah, GD, they were alternative/punk but now the album is just punk/pop. And yes Mike is hot (you reading this will be thinking URGH!) but I don't just listen to Green Day for him. And can I just point out that Green Day is slang for a day spent on wacked up on dope (or grass or watever).

MCR in my opinion have gone mainstream too. I bet quite alot of you haven't even heard their old album? I bet you think Three Cheers is their debut. They have become sellouts, they never used to wear eye liner and make up but ever since they have they have been labelled emo and now EVERYONE loves them. Now go out and buy I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love adn then find real emo.

I think you should just stop labeling stuff, if you like the music listen to it if not dont.

Simple really if you dont want to listen to a certain genre just because it is "pop-punk" or whatever because you are a "punk" then you are an idiot.

Ive had this name for years, since then i have grown up...im not really a kid anymore

But being SkaKid doesnt mean i just listen to Ska and dont like anything else, which was my point, i wouldn't label myself anything anymore

And that was an example, people have said that they dont like their newest album because they have "sold out" or are "pop-punk"

They arent unique at all. Have you ever heard of the clash? They were inspired by them. Green day even did a song remake they did. Listen to them, and you'll see. There are bands that have been around longer. Emo was around when green day started, it just wasent the same type as today.
