I saved a pidgeon once, we came home in the car and it was hopping around by the gates to the back garden, so I went and got a cardboard box and got it in there - put some water in something (forget what, saucer of some type) and gave it some bread crumbs and nuts. Anyway I closed the lid over for nightime (keep the cats away) and checked now and again, it was just sitting there relaxed and chilled out - in the morning woke up to find that the lid was all lifted up so it must of regained enough strength to fly out and fly away.

RSPB can be incredibly stupid though. If working with birds of prey, they would sooner put them down than put the effort into saving them or rehabilitate them, so never let the RSPB near any birds unless they're incredibly rare or not so badly injured. It would be easier to know what to do if we knew what was wrong though

Same, in the fact that we saved a pigeon once. Was watching my cat in the garden, and then he suddenly attacked a pigeon out of no where. Managed to shoo him away and the pigeon's wing was damaged and it was bleeding underneath it. We called the local vets and got the pigeon in a cage and took him there, dno what they did with it though.
