    Does anyone know what the minimum wage for a 20 year old is? Cos KFC pays 5.10£ an hour and i swear minimum wage is higher than that for a 20 year old?

    no it's about that

    all i know is if you're under 16 they can pay you anything

    Oh is it, i was on like 4.86£ an hour at 17 i thought it went up more than 20 odd pence.

    that'd defo under minimun. i'm sure it's a little more than £5 give or take

    That's above minimum, for your age it's £4.83 with chances of increases over time. The £5.80 minimum which most companies go by just to make admin changes easier is only a legal minimum for persons aged 22 and older

    What are the current rates of the national minimum wage?
    There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1 October 2009 are:

    £5.80 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
    a development rate of £4.83 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
    £3.57 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age
