Also tell me about your mini, did you have to tell your insurance company about the roll cage and if so was it the roll cage that made it really expensive to insure?
I'm just unlucky, Cars aint built to my standards
Yeah I stupidly told them, Skyrocketed my insurance.
Before I told them about the Seat The insurance was only £1200 but then once I crashed the seat I thought i'd better tell them about the cage. x
Oh so would they insure a 17 year olds first car if it was a 1 litre Austin Mini Cooper with a 6 point roll cage, no other mods?
yeah.
I've sold this to my friend who is now learning in it. Not sure how much his insurance is.
there was a bit of a discussion about the crumple zone because the whole inside has gone, theres just pedals and steering wheel. That didnt really do anything to insurance but did make me think x

Yeh always wanted a mini as my first car but they crumple in like crisp packets. Really unsafe little cars so a 6 point roll cage and perhaps frame strengthening bars would be a must. Would have a little power boost to compensate for the added weight but my insurance company wouldn't be hearing anything about that... It's funny because I actually have the cash to buy one now, it's still just over a year until I am on the road but I'd like a project.yeah.

If you've got the cash you might aswell. I did that, I had this a few weeks b4 i started driving it and got a really cool cutout bonnet for it
Was it you that was working on a corsa, put some flared arches on and painted it orange? I think it was a corsa anyway, was a while ago that I read all of the thread on the forum you posted it on. Think it was you anyway.![]()
