Convincing Parents.

We're moving to a new house shortly with three bedrooms. We need four bedrooms and we're getting an attic conversion just after Christmas. I'm doing my final year of A Level's and I need my own room. There is no way I could share a room with my brother. Yeah he's alright and all but he annoys me so much and would get in my way all the time. He is always so messy and leaves food everywhere in his room. He stays up until 4am playing xbox every night and shouts down the microphone. Not to mention I essentially work from my bedroom making YouTube videos and I cant see this happening with him there. Can someone people give me something to say to my parents? My sister is recently turned 5 and she sleeps in my parents room in a separate bed, I told my parents why cant she stay with them just a bit longer but they seem to want to force me in with my brother, I know it is a bit selfish but hear me out.

Build a wall in you and your brothers room seperating them or something, if a wall is too much how about a gypsy looking curtain

well, i think you need your own room, possibly ask to sleep in the lounge until the attic is built.. Im guessing the attic will become somones bedroom/ your bedroom?

Like Nazi said, you can buy fake walls that totally separate rooms off. If it was big enough for you to share then I'm sure you could separate it without ending up with 2 rooms that are hideously small. That is unless of course you were planning on sharing a bunk bed?

Couldn't have been said any better. Let them know that you need your own space and that your brother as a roommate may hinder your education.

What age are you and what age is your brother?

If your little brother is considerably younger than you he can bunk with your sister. She's five years of age, she'll do what she's told and she doesn't need her own space until she reaches around ten, right? The oldest sibling should always be put first to have his/her own space, thus you should have your own room. You need time to study and you need time to be yourself; not to mention get away from it all when it gets a bit much. How can you do that when you have a little brother screaming at the XBOX? You can't. Get them sorted!
