I have noticed there is a couple of threads about WikiLeaks, just thought it would be tidier to post it all here

First I respected them for posting the stuff...but now they've gone OTT and are threatening and stuff...some of the stuff is actually really sensitive and although I respect them for wanting to get it out in the public, some of it needs to stay confidential or relations between some countries could deteriorate rapidly.

They need to calm down now. And the latest thing they posted saying about Al Magrahi most people already knew...although they threatened "it would ruin Britain"....LOL.

    No.. they didn't?

How on Earth have they gone over the top? By releasing the US Diplomacy Cables they've given an honesty to a world of dishonesty, and over the last few years they've been doing similar things. These things have to happen, truth should not be treason.

They are threatening with an 'insurance file' containing some serious, serious dirt on the United States. I don't think it's the way to go, since it's kind of hard to justify such means, it's as if they're not taking non-violent means anymore. Although that is quite impossible given the current governments' attitudes towards freedom of speech and information.

Name me one thing that Wikileaks has released that could damage lives.

So they're happy to remove the names of Cuban officials but won't remove the names of any Westerners when they're at risk.

In my eyes this is conclusive proof that this is just some nonsensical anti-America website. It's not about releasing what the public should know at all otherwise they wouldnt of released an document on vital security targets. Also they'd just release it all at once rather than spread it out for maximum damage if it was in the public interest.

This. I see what they're trying to do - I applaud them for what they did - but really they don't have to go all out threatening the Governments saying "we're gonna release some real **** on you" and stuff? And they should just release it all at once if it was in the public interest as Jordy said.

He'd be really good at Magic, he'd be like 'pick a government topic, any government topic' and then be like 'He slept with a cat you know.'

Lol...but to be honest...do the *General* public care? Not really...most of it we already knew anyway. We knew that Labour were doing trade deals with Libya hence the release of the Lockerbie bomber. Of course there are political sceptics and that who will keep these articles to throw at the leaders during the next election, and those who take a serious interest in world affairs. But most ordinary people couldn't care less if they tried. That's what I've noticed anyway. All the adults I've talked to (parents, school assisstants, teachers, friends parents ect.) say they don't really care. Lol.
