    RAID1 performance over a single drive is hardly any better

    Write speed is the same, read speed is increased by up to 2x.

    Depends how quick the drives are in the first place.

    But if you need the redundancy, an increase in read is a welcome addition.

    Yeh, I need the backup feature so I can continue using my pc if a drive were to fail. The drives are 7200rpm.
    My tracking shows my items are in a van due for delivery in a few hours

    Not for backing up against software corruption, "so I can continue to use my pc if a drive were to fail" is what I said.
