Default How to get the data off this Dell?

I'm working on a Dell Inspiron 1525. It was running fine, then would only run in safe mode and now won't run at all. I was 99% sure it was a virus.

But I've tried booting into Slax, Puppy Linux, DSL, and the Secured2K Boot CD (as well as TinyXP on the Hirens Boot CD)... will start to work and after a couple of minutes just sticks at that screen. Cursor works but button presses don't.

However it appears that Ubuntu 10.10 is working, but I can't access the HDD, it doesn't appear in Nautilus but it does in Disk Utility and I can see the partitions on it.

I need the data off this thing, but seeing as I suspect a virus, I do not want to plug the HDD into my desktop. Any other methods?

I really want to avoid that if possible.. I have used an identical HDD on it before (WD Scorpio Blue 250GB) but due to the nature of this I'm hesitant to. I'd rather try ahd clean up the infection first.

Why not get that sandboxie program, copy everything from the hdd into a sandbox, virus scan it then it's sorted if clean. If there's a virus it's stuck in the sandbox, if its clean its clean.

Ubuntu 10.10 live CD couldn't mount the drive.
So I checked the S.M.A.R.T data.

    69 bad sectors.

If I slot this HDD into my main rig (It's a WD2500BEVT, identical to the one in my HP Pavillion DV6 that has been connected before), will any software be able to fetch data off? I was thinking Recuva.

I assume with that many bad sectors that the drive will need replacing?
