Tbh this is where Sony have a downfall, I read somewhere that until a few days ago they had no idea what happened, the second the PSN goes down they should know why and where it's happened

Huh.. I thought that Sony took it down themselves when they realised there had been a breach etc, although it does seem that Sony are changing their story a lot.

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.
Shame it's been down for so long but if it's being attacked by whoever then it's not really surprising, if it's not been/being attacked then Sony has balls'd up somewhere.

There's been no hacking. Anonymous aren't involved (they aren't going to bring down PSN because it just causes a pain in the ass for consumers) but another group decided they didn't like Anon's soft tactics and are still DDoSing the network.

There's sweet **** all Sony can do about it and it can happen to anyone at any time, even to the Xbox Live network, so don't start that stupid idea.

I thought the first attack was a DDoS for ~ 1 hour by Anonymous and now this is a network intrusion by a different group and Sony shut the PSN down for security?

But yeah, if it's a large enough DDoS there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it. Xbox Live would be just as vulnerable.
