I guess we will disagree here, I always go by "if you don't ask, you don't get".

I can see why you don't want to ask but perhaps donations could be encouraged? EG. Donations towards HxSS.

If you asked, I bet you would get.

I do agree with you, but we do still 'get' now, when we don't explicitly ask. It might be something that would fit better for such a big competition like the SS or EE. However, if some departments took this idea, then I guess I'm afraid it'll evolve into constant begging, when I think we have just about enough now.

For anyone who likes that sorta stuff, you're gonna love what I plan to give for the Habbox Summer Spectacular. Far off I know, but it's something I enjoyed alot and didn't necessarily get the attention around Habbo it deserved. Bets Phil is going to be hounding me to tell him what hahaha. But yeah like, may even be worth in future years perhaps using the usersystem on Habbox.com to create an internet-based Monopoly board with all the said elements, but instead just putting them somewhere where they can actually be accessed and viewed in a clever manner. It's not like this'll be the last time you do this event... Well, it wasnt on Mcdonalds' mind at the time

    Fair enough

Just when HxSS comes around, why not put a little message up - who knows you might get a few thrones off me, and surely I won't be the only one who would donate towards it

    ---

May I ask how many prizes there are (has anyone counted)?

And can people win like 20 prizes if they are lucky?
Yes and no. In theory, yes they can. In deeper theory, they will not be able to win that many tickets because that'll require a hell of a lot of sets which they're unlikely to get.

There are 150 prizes I believe, although the only one which will definitely disappear is the Throne. The rest are 'in the air'.
There is a total of 500 rep, 7 months VIP, 30 HC Sofas, 350 credits and 1 throne possibly being given out.
In addition, a total of 10 Bronze/Silver Habbox Competition Awards could be given out and 5 Gold Habbox Competition Awards also.

Also what Laura said on post 20 is something I agree with and that's why Habbox don't actually ask for donations apart from a very small message on the site and in the Donations Thread, if it's still there.

At Ryan, dare I say it but I hope this is the only time this event is held, whether there's variations of it with slight changes is another matter. I worked in the Comps Dept for about 20 months I think it was and what I learned there was new, fresh (lame humour too :rolleyes. It's not something I'd like to see again, it's a great idea but I just love new things and I know Mike has a hell of a lot of them.

Replace the word "begging" with "advertising" and you've got it dead on.

I think this is something that GM need to think about... especially seeing as you've explicitly said that you'd give if you realise we needed it - who knows how many other members are like you?

I asked for a divorce and I ******* got it.

Normal staff wouldn't advertise for donations btw, that would make it insane.

I guess you might get something come HxSS

Exactly. Especially older members I think.

I know I am not the only one who stopped donating at one stage as we never knew what our donations actually went to (and I think some of them did sadly just go to old GMs accounts and stay there).

However, if it was said what sort of things it would go to, I am sure people would be interested in helping the fansite.

I asked for donations in the Habbox Monopoly thread and it's definitely something I'd do in the future. There are lots of people who are rich, never really play Habbo and just keep their furni for old times sake and I do think they need a little nudge nudge wink wink in the right direction every now and again.

I don't think there's much wrong in asking for donations, I will quite simply ask for donations without thinking twice about it because in this day and age it takes a lot to run a fansite, unfortunately the days in which prizes are cheap and easy to obtain and people are wanting bigger things like this monopoly competition on a more regular basis, think about how much that costs to fund.
