Default Returning to Habbo after several years... what on earth happened?

    Hi all,

So yeah, I was a pretty avid player a couple years ago, at my peak I had ammassed enough wealth to build a small super-casino (It was only a 5x5 room, but it had the works =P). However when school/uni life and a job took over, I sold the majority of my furni and left. Two years on the mention of Habbo on another forum has sent me on a major nostalgia trip, so I thought I'd check out what it was like now and what furni I'd left myself with. Turns out all I had left was a single throne, which was worth about 70HC when I last left. Naturally I headed over to Habbox to check it's current value...

What the heck happened? Prices are radically different from when I last visited. The throne is worth about triple what it was when I last played, and credits seem to have gone through the roof in terms of value (Or is it that HC value has gone through the floor?). It's all very confusing coming back to the game after a few years, so it essentially boils down to one question; what changed so that the value of thrones sky-rocketed, while HCs plummeted?

    *Removed*
Any insight would be greatly appreciated [=

After the merge & switch to VIP HCs were no longer wanted/needed and therefore their value dropped, slowly first, but now they're worth 2-3c at most. Credits are the main currency now. I've never been rich enough to trade thrones so I don't know how the value has changed, but you wouldn't be trading it for HCs anymore.

Thanks for the response, but what "merge" is this? I'm also unfamiliar with VIP, I was around when HC was the pinnacle of Habbo membership =P how did this work towards devaluing HCs?

    Okay

the "merge" was merging all english speaking hotels (USA, CA, SG, AU & UK) together into one hotel. This meant there were more rares on the hotel which devalued some of them.

Also - VIP is the new HC - although there is still HC - it is just more advanced membership which costs more credits, but they changed the gifts so you could no longer get HCs. I can't really explain it but HCs just became unwanted and common because there were so many and they were no longer "cool" people started selling them for credits and soon they lost their value.

In a nutshell sulake kept trying to revamp everything to make it seem like the more you spent you get rewards when the reality is all they've tried to do is suck you in to make more money.

Everyone else seems to have answered your other questions. I just thought I'd put in that it's virtually impossible to safe trade furni for money now. I haven't tried myself, but some of my Habbo friends have and it's pretty hard to guarantee payment because there is no proper service for it.

So I'll be kind and solve your problem. You could give the throne to me.

To add on to what else has happened, if you was around before BETA habbo is now in a BETA version with no battle ball and snowstorm. There is although Battle Banzai and Freeze furni which you can use to make games.

HCs went down the pan for a simple reason - credits took over as the main currency in the hotel. Meaning there were just loads of redundant HCs with no purpose. Supply of the HC FAR out did the demand for them, hence the huge drop.

I literally quit for four years so I know how you feel. I'd never heard of the merge either, I don't even think credits were around and of course Disembodied still had his dragon egg pyramid that he hacked from Mike (Ecko).
