    Question Future Careers/Jobs

The topic of this thread is basically, what jobs or careers do you have in mind for the future? Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What interests you in that job?

Personally, I fancy doing something with law, I have a lawyer or solicitor in mind but I guess i'm going to have to have a good think about it as time is running out. It interests me because the money and because I feel i'd suit the job well.

Investment banker turn hedge fund manager. Hopefully earn enough to retire at 50, then possibly run for MP.

I reckon I'd be good because numbers are naturally easy for me. I can do complicated calculations in my head. The money is obviously pretty good, and can be incredible if I work hard. I'm interested in money/banking etc. so it suits me.

Funnily enough, a few teachers said to me today, "why don't you go into politics? You're very interested in it." So might try and do the same thing as you, run for MP later on.

English Teacher! Wanted to be a teacher since I was in year 3, English teacher since year 9!

And an author - but you can't really make a living off that. If that's successful enough, I plan to retire from work at around 30 and go into writing full time

10 years from now I see myself within the same job, but different profession.
I'm currently in the Army, have been for just under 3 years, I joined as REME (Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineer), however since last year I've been in the process and training to become RMP (Royal Military Police) so hopefully by next year I'll be half way through my training, and I think I'll stick to that until I retire!

Why? I always wanted to be a Police officer, as most kids do at the age of 8, dressing up in a police outfit arresting family members because they didn't put the toilet seat down - Well that never stopped for me (the desire to apply for police - not arresting family members lol) I want to be Traffic Police so with a bit of luck I'll make it there within 2-3 years from now.

Why didn't I join in as RMP when I joined Army??? - Because I was only 17 when I joined and I knew my chances of getting into RMP was slim, as they are looking for people with life experience and whatnot... Mortgage, marriage, divorce etc.. would be very patronizing if a 17 year old Police officer goes to a domestic and tries to give advice on things when they haven't been through it themselves! would just cause more conflict.

I plan to be an educational psychologist or a teacher. I've recently decided that I definitely want to work with children, I would be more interested in eventually going into being an Educational Psychologist however there are only a few unis who run doctorates in such courses so you need a damn good application to get in, so depending on what degree classification I get I will either go straight to a doctorate in educational psychology which will lead be to being a Doctor of Educational Psychology earning quite a bit of money investigating how and why children learn how they do, when they do - what schools can do to make it better for children and of course my main area of interest - improving the education of problem children.

If I don't get a first or 2:1 I will probably go for teacher training and become a teacher for a few years as this would enhance my application for an educational psychology doctorate. We will see! University has changed a lot for me.

If all goes to plan, I'll hopefully go into teaching - preferably late primary. I'm not too sure why, I just feel as though I would be good at it. Depending on how my course at Uni goes, I might try doing some writing on the side too, simply because I enjoy it.

There seems to be a high demand for teaching careers!

i don't have a clue tbh. i've got a good few months until i'm in my 2nd year of uni, so i suppose at that point i'll need to start thinking. but nevertheless, my backup career would probably be a teacher.
