That's why it's not showing up for me.

I think you're mistaking dev with beta
There's 3 'channels' with Google: Dev (or Developer), Beta and Stable. Dev being the most recent however they claim it isn't as stable as the other two channels.

No. The channels are built into chrome, I can update the same second the updates are pushed (literally). That's why, bright spark, we use the in built update system.

This is shoddy I'm looking forward to downgrading, the very slow startup, frequent crashing and the flash plugin constantly stopping makes the whole thing unbareable.
