It'll do, but I don't like the way it chooses to show half the online people.

Seems like a bug to me. I can never see anyone who's name begins with a letter later on in the alphabet. It's doing my head in

It's rubbish it doesn't show who is online. They should of just kept the old one. :/

Facebook needs to really have some kind of feedback thing. Instead of just rolling out updates I'd like them to maybe even do beta testing where people have to sign up and leave detailed information.

I say detailed as to prevent people going on and just saying it is crap. As I mentioned this new chat could work, but only in my opinion if it was optional. It's handy if you only talk to certain people, but when I did run my own online station which should be back up in September, I used chat as one of many ways to advertise.

I think they're fools not to do extensive beta testing with a site that size. I've seen too many features released in the past that were buggy.
Also I think feedback would be a brilliant idea. Facebook has polls so they ought to use them to find out if people like what they're doing.

Yeah the only problem with that is a lot of people hate change. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the old facebook which was a bit like MySpace where applications where on your profile's main page along with your wall and info. It was such a mess and I hated it and I was go glad when they changed it but a lot of people moaned.

I'd rather have some kind of beta, polls are okay, but a lot of people are going to say they hate it just because they hate change.

This is why some people get the changes instantly and some don't, they roll it out progressively to account for issues further down in the rollout, for example, mobile companies roll out to employees, and then a select group of the public, and then another public group and so on.

Yeah but they don't really take opinions. It's okay trying to make sure there's no bugs, but if no one likes the update then fixing bugs is going to be a waste of time.

There's lots of stuff facebook can do, but it needs to find out what people want. Develop something, put it in beta, get people to try it and get their feedback, and if people do like it then roll it out.

Obviously it's better than rolling out to everyone at once, but they should at least allow people to opt out of being a guinea-pig.
