eat more meals but smaller portions than you'd usually have, if I do that i find I'm not as hungry than if I was to eat 3 big meals. I do however eat a big breakfast so that I don't snack until lunch

What Jen and Myke have said pretty much hits the nail on the head, also remember to keep an eye on your Sodium/Salt intake.

That is unhealthy, you need breakfast, lunch and dinner - just have smaller portions.

well if he's overweight then logic dictates he eats more than he should, therefore eat less (i.e reduce your calorie intake by however much is neccessary) and excersise a bit more than you normally do.

and @ marketing, studies have shown that smaller, more regular meals stimulate the metabolism and aid with greater weight loss than just standard 3 meals a day

People don't have time for more regular meals per day.

Iwas simply saying 'one meal a day' is like the worst thing you could do.

I suggest having regular exercise and eating healthy meals, keeping low on carbs and fat. Natural sugars such as those in fruit can also cause weight gain if you're not exercising your body. Due to the weight you currently are it might be impossible getting to the 8 stone figure as the fat you currently have can act as fuel for your muscles, therefore making your muscles bigger. Also muscle is more heavier then fat so although you may be over 8 stone, you can still have a flat chest. Also drink plenty of water - I recommend 2 liters a day to flush out the chemicals in your body. Everyone has seemed to cover everything... Some of the information I've provided could be a little wrong because I diet myself but putting on muscle instead of loosing weight, hope this helped.

Cardiovascular in the gym will help burn the fat and you also have to tighten your chest muscles to get some definition. Have a high protein low fat diet (it's filling, so you won't feel like snacking) however if you get the munchies just eat peanuts/fruit. If you crave fizzy drinks just drink sofa water. You gotta be disciplined

Then your stomach rumbles, then it eats all of the fat which then makes you lose weight. aminotrite?

He could still eat less though, amirite?
You do realise if he starts running/cycling/swimming he'll need extra carbs for energy etc?

employers and schools are legally obliged to give you breaks. unless he works solidly for 12 hours straight he will have time to eat more regularly

I really don't think it is a good idea to drop from 13 stone to like 8 ?? especially given the fact that if you do start exercising you will lose fat but should gain in muscle mass, therefore increase your weight.

When you exercise you will use up more energy than you would in a normal day, soo you need to eat the same amount, if not more...
Saying that, if you are already eating too much for what you are burning just from your resting metabolic rate then chances are you will be eating enough even when you do exercise.

I posted in a thread about losing belly fat with some calculations which would help you if you wanted to take a look.

    Hope this helped x
