Yeah I first saw it at University myself. I recommend rope because its all done in one shot or so it seems. I think there are invisible edits in there, its a while since I saw it but its kind of like phone booth, all happening in one room.

One film I really want to get on DVD is Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. I watched it ages ago and the film left an impression on me. It's kind of a horror film, thriller, with little bits of truth in it as it was based on a serial killer. The thing about it is it feels like a documentary at times and just feels very dark and unnerving.

Henry is great, and really disturbing.

Psycho is my personal favourite Hitchcock. I wrote an essay on it for the Film4 FrightFest mag (page 56 onwards) which may be of interest.

Forget North by Northwest, forget Psycho, forget even The Birds. Strangers on a Train is Hitchcocks best.

american beauty, venus (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489327/) and an englishman in new york (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0997057/)

i guess the last one is more of a drama than a film, but it's a good watch.

Dead End Road. I'm joking. Someone got me a box set once called the death box knowing I'm a big horror fan and that's the only film I've really watched and it was probably the most terrible film ever. I'm sure it had someone from saved by the bell, the headteacher if I'm correct and was written by a University lecturer in film, who'd apparently taught sam rami or something. Well I wouldn't let this guy write even a student film. It also had a film called brain dead and had the plot outline on the dvd case for Peter Jacksons amazing film, until you actually watch it and realise its a completely different film - they must have taken the plot outline from the net without watching the film.

Today I shall recommend some big trouble in little china and while I'm at it the original Assault on Precinct 13 which I need to get on DVD. I do have the main title theme stuck in my head right now.

As there hasn't been any martial arts films listed on here to I'm tempted to go through the once upon a time in china trilogy, probably the best Jet Li films ever.
