I've had a few, my last one was a few weeks ago. I only invite 30 people that I trust to be in my house and are close friends. Nothing bad has happened at any of my parties, at other peoples I've been to parties have been gatecrashed and the police was called at one, glad nothing like that happened at mine.

Precisely, I don't understand all these stories of "every" house party getting trashed as obviously no one would hold them if that were the case. I've also experienced just the one house getting a proper trashing seeing as I don't hang around with ***** nor do I attend house parties which are "open invitation" as it'll obviously be bad.

I've been to loads of house parties and never yet been to one where everything has been ****** up.

Moral of the story - don't invite ****'s.
I've had two in the past year also. My first one was the night before New Years Eve and that was honestly one of the best nights of my life, pretty much everyone attended and most people were drunk. I could tell people were enjoying themselves and as a result I did too, I was very relaxed about things and no one seemed to take advantage. Other than rubbish everywhere and a few spillages, there was no real issue.

The second one also went quite well but never quite clicked for me, a close friend of mine through up outside and then ran off denying it (Apologised the next day ) and then my Finnish exchange student was sick all over my bedroom. But then again that was my fault as he'd never drunk before and I handed him a bottle of vodka :L - All of it can be cleared up in a couple of hours anyway, my parents weren't too bothered.

I think a lot of people should just man up and hold house parties, not many of them get trashed; Get a decent iPod dock, lock away valuables, have a guest list without morons and be prepared to tidy up afterwards. It's not difficult.

My parents and my sisters are going away for a week and I was thinking of having one myself. I haven't decided yet but I'd be so afraid someone would get thrown through our aquarium or the 52" 3D TV, only because they'd be the two things pretty much impossible to replace before they come back

I haven't no. I don't think I ever would due to an experience with somebody elses..

There was this lad, who's parents were away on holiday, so he organised a party. Long story short, about 300 people turned up, and only about 100 were inside. There was people smashing windows, shouting, climbing through windows to get in, things were getting stolen etc.. At about midnight the police show up, and we all get kicked out. Me and a few mates come back at about 2, climb into the back garden and help ourselves to about £300 of stashed beer all around the garden. Happy days!

My parents go on holiday soon though, thinking about a small gathering, not so much a party..

Ok, since everyone is going into details about what has happened, in the 3/4 I've had, the following has happened (bearing in mind, my parents have a BIG house):
Someone sprayed painted the kitchen floor tiles silver
The same person spray painted MY name on the dog kennel
People decided to see who could do the best doughnuts on their bikes on my garden (not push bikes lol)
I had to kick through the bathroom door as someone locked themselves in
People decided to play darts from 50 foot away, one went through the window
There was coke, weed and booze EVERYWHERE
Someone was locked in the garage and KICKED the door open
    Smashed coffee table

If I remember more, I'll add to the list lol.

I've never really had house partys as such, but last year we'd have mini sessions with all my friends most days out my back garden, which is pretty big considering where I live, a lot of the time there'd be other people there who I didn't really know too well but it was never anything too much. Nobody trashed anywhere and in the mornings a few of my friends who stayed over would all run up to the bottle bank which is behind my house and that'd be it. My brothers thrown a lot of partys at mine (not mine anymore but still) he didn't live there but he'd stolen somebodys key and let himself in. The most they've probably done is smash my mothers bathroom window which is directly above the toilet, kinda bound to happen when somebodys drunk and somebody broke a chair but that's really it. Never really been to a major house party, most keep to the outside like at the beach etc. which is always fun.

I have never had a house party but plenty of garden parties I prefer them as they are easier to clean up I think it is better to keep it small and intimate as oppose to large with attenders you dont even know.
