Yeah, stereotypes being the work of the naive. A gay would seem to be camp.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying it's the stereotype.

Camp doesn't necessarily mean your gay but it's quite likely (Although less so recently) but when most people think of gay they still think of camp people.

Haha no I think you'll find you are, you don't want to understand the concept of a stereotype because you're confusing it with prejudice and homophobia.

A stereotype is merely a popular belief, it doesn't mean it's true. A "stereotypical gay" would live up to the beliefs people hold about gay people. For instance this would mean they're probably quite feminine (camp) in terms of appearance and music they listen to (among other things).

It's really not a difficult concept to understand.

I accept that, I accept people believe that (as a stereotype of gay people)

I've just noticed I skim-read your reply and thought you said most gays are camp. You actually said most (used to) assume that most gays are camp.
It's just naive to assume so ,i'm aware you didn't.

It just angers me being a completely normal, straight dude to see people tagging gays with being camp.
For instance, i'm extremely open about my sexuality. Most if not all people find out through being told. Such as in my workplace, clients assume that my other male colleague is gay and not me? When they're told different (which pisses me off too. I don't ask them of their bedroom goings on so why should they need to know my sexuality!) they simply either don't believe it or proclaim they assumed different. The downside of this is a lot of weird, stalker-ish girls finding me on facebook. Which i don't understand, my name isn't the same on facebook as it is.

Mika is pretty gay, so I'm amazed he doesn't like Mika to be honest.

Being camp usually means your gay - it's how the stereotype goes. However, in reality, it's usually assumed but not necessary true.
