Newcomer of the Month and New Member rewards flaw

I've just taken a look at the thread detailing these (Just curious) and I've noticed a fatal flaw.

NCotM: ill win 1 month Forum VIP and a "Newcomer of the Month" forum award."
100 Post Reward: rewarded with 2 weeks Forum VIP!

The problem that I see with this is that these are both forum related prizes, however, a new member has VERY limited presence on the forums and therefore incentives for something they do not often use is not really much of an incentive at all. However, what we do know about the typical habboxforum newbie is that they play on habbo, and therefore a prize on habbo (Such as credits or furni) would be far better received and a far better incentive to start posting since it's for something they already enjoy, retaining VIP is a good idea though as it is a good incentive to keep posting once they've started or at the very least keep visiting.

Yeah i do kinda agree with this, i'm a new member and having VIP on this forum does not make no difference to me if i had it or not. I don't even know what forum VIP is LOL!

Yeah I see where you're coming from as when I first joined HxF it was in HxEE 2009 and although that award wasn't there then I'd have still played Habbo more before becoming a frequent poster on here.

Nothing encourages new users (who are generally fairly young) to keep posting more than a bit of furniture..

Unfortunately the promotion came out shortly after you registered and got 100 posts so you wouldn't have been eligible to receive the free VIP at the time.

I'm not sure if the currently welcome PM includes mention of this promotion or if it does how in-depth it is. If it's lacking in explanation it's probably worth us editing it to include further mention of the promotion. I'm not sure about giving credits though because we don't always have an unlimited supply. It would likely be a hassle chasing people down to get them distributed and we would likely have a problem with people registering numerous times to "farm" credits. But the welcome PM definitely should include mention of the promotion for sure.

Well, they still have to make 100 posts (And not many do that within the time constraint usually), they can either spend many hours on habbox or do a paper round, and it doesn't have to be loads of credits. Perhaps make it eligible once per ip/person?

Besides, I seem to remember some people complaining that too many competitions had habbo based prizes, cut the vip from here, give it to them and take the habbo based prizes.
