B.S.O.D!

Hey, My laptop was working perfectly fine these few months, & all of a sudden it's decided to **** up... It's quite old & yh... It's an Inspiron 1501.

Basically... Every time I turn it on it loads up & then I get the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) & it tells me some **** about a physical memory dump... do you have any suggestions? I read on the net that I should leave it & allow it to reboot... is this true?

Format and reinstall Windows, if it continues then it's a hardware problem.

I've got the disk to do so... but it conks out b4 i get the chance to run the cd

Check the hardware then, may be a loose RAM chip or overheating laptop. Take the battery out maybe and run it on just mains?

Could be a plethora of things, a clean install would give a better perspective. Perhaps swap hard drives with another laptop for a day or 2 to see if the problem still arises.

okokok, it's still being an idiot.

Earlier today... My mic which is a USB mic kept being stupid so I diabled it via device manager. I then enabled it again & it kept telling me it was malfunctioned bla bla bla,m so I disabled it again... Now everytime I turni on my lapyop that ugly pop up crap comes up telling me "New Audio Device Found" which i'm guessing is what it was meant to be finding earlier! :frustrated: and then after that... it freezes & i get the blue screen... Is it time i got a hammer and beat the living (well dead now) **** out of my laptop or is there a way to solve this?

You're doing it wrong. BSODs cannot occur before the laptop begins to boot from it. You need to boot from the CD by selecting it on the One time boot menu, not run it from within Windows.
